Feed The Fasting

Feeding the fasting over Ramadan is even closer to the Prophet’s (saw) heart than providing food to those in need over the other months of the year – so when you feed the fasting, you are not only spreading joy to those in need, you are also gaining countless rewards for yourself.

Feed the fasting in time for Ramadan, and read on to find out what the Prophet (saw) taught us about the abundant blessings of feeding those who fast.

Whilst we all know about the happiness and relief we could spread to those in need by providing food over Ramadan, many of us are unaware of the Prophet’s (saw) teachings about feeding the fasting.

When a person asked the Prophet (saw) what the best deeds are in Islam, He said: “To feed the poor and greet those who you know and those who you don’t know.” [Bukhari]

The Messenger (saw) also extolled the virtues of feeding the fasting, saying: “Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.” [Tirmidhi]

So, the Messenger (saw) described feeding the poor as one of the best deeds in Islam, and He spoke extremely highly of feeding the fasting – how much more favourably would He look upon us for feeding someone who is poor and fasting?
